Kakopetria is the largest village in the Solea valley located 55 kilometers southwest of the capital, Nicosia, on the foothills of the Troodos Mountains.
It is situated between the banks of rivers Karkotsi and Garillis. The two rivers come together in the village and form the river Clarios which crosses the Solea Valley and then flows into the gulf of Morphou.
